Fairy Loot July Unboxing | 2018

Fairy Loot July Unboxing | 2018

Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! If you don’t already know, I now also have a YouTube channel where I have also filmed an unboxing as well as writing this blog post. So, for this month the theme was ‘The Power Within’ and when the theme was announced last month, I had no idea what the book was going to be. That’s what I love about having the book subscription service – I just love being surprised!

Let’s get on with the unboxing…

Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork which is designed by Taratjah! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!

The first item that I saw when I opened up the Fairy Loot box WAS ANOTHER BOX! I knew that it would be a mug because it was the item that Fairy Loot revealed to us when advertising this months box. What’s so amazing about this mug is that it is one of those heat changeable mugs. So at the moment (when it’s cool), it’s black… But when you put the hot water in the mug, it turns into this:

The quote says “you must continue to believe with all your heart. Sometimes, belief is all it takes to make something real”, and this is a quote from Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes!

RRP: £13.29

The next item that I saw in the box was this room spray bought to us by Geeky Clean. I love their items and I can’t wait to go and see their stall at YALC! This room spray is inspired by Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch and is called Theron’s Study and smells like lavender, which is amazing because I LOVE THE SMELL OF LAVENDER!!

RRP: £7.00

Then I saw THIS BRILLIANT QUIDDITCH PEN that in inspired by Harry Potter and was bought to us exclusively by Fairy Loot. The pen even has a quote on the side, and mine says “don’t chase the Quaffle if you see the Snitch”.

Next was a promotional item that advertised Sweet Black Waved by Kristina Pérez

Two proud kingdoms stand on opposite shores, with only a bloody history between them.

As best friend and lady-in-waiting to the princess, Branwen is guided by two principles: devotion to her homeland and hatred for the raiders who killed her parents. When she unknowingly saves the life of her enemy, he awakens her ancient healing magic and opens her heart. Branwen begins to dream of peace, but the princess she serves is not so easily convinced. Fighting for what’s right, even as her powers grow beyond her control, will set Branwen against both her best friend and the only man she’s ever loved.

Inspired by the star-crossed tale of Tristan and Eseult, this is the story of the legend’s true heroine: Branwen. For fans of Graceling and The Mists of Avalon, this is the first book of a lush fantasy trilogy about warring countries, family secrets, and forbidden romance.

Next up was a tea towel that was designed by KDP letters. Unfortunately, the design came out backwards which is a massive shame, but Fairy Loot did email everyone who had bought the July box explaining that they had realised the design wasn’t right and they are going to send a replacement tea towel in a couple of months. The tea towel includes the quote “her spine was steel, her heart was armour and her eyes were fire”, and this is taken from And I Darken by Kiersten White.

And finally, the last item (apart from the book of the month) that was in the Fairy Loot box was THIS GORGEOUS art print designed by Diana Worak, and the art print depicts Zélie from Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. This is an amazing piece of art and I’ll definitely be sticking this up on my bedroom wall!

AAANNNNNNDDDDD THE BOOK OF THE MONTH IS….

Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton! This is an EXCLUSIVE Fairy Loot edition as it had red spray-painted pages, and it’s also physically signed by the author. So that means NO BOOKPLATE that you need to stick in, it’s ACTUALLY signed. Also included in the Fairy Loot punch was a letter from the author which also acts as a piece of character artwork. I’ve also just looked on Amazon so that I can include the link for you to buy it, and it says that it doesn’t come out until 6th September in the U.K! But it’s out 31st July in the U.S. So technically, I’m getting it 2 months early which is AMAZING!

In the ancient river kingdom, touch is a battlefield, bodies the instruments of war. Seventeen-year-old Mia Rose has pledged her life to hunting Gwyrach: women who can manipulate flesh, bones, breath, and blood.

Not women. Demons. The same demons who killed her mother without a single scratch.

But when Mia’s father suddenly announces her marriage to the prince, she is forced to trade in her knives and trousers for a sumptuous silk gown. Only after the wedding goes disastrously wrong does she discover she has dark, forbidden magic—the very magic she has sworn to destroy.

As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / July 2018 / ‘The Power Within’ printed on the back!

Thank you to Fairy Loot for another month of bookish goodness. I can’t wait for next months box which is themed Mutinous Pirates! I know exactly what the book is for next month, and again, it was one that I had pre-ordered, so I had to cancel my pre-order! But the book sounds absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to own it and read it! There has also been a supplier reveal already, and it’s an exclusive sampler of King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo!!! I CAN’T WAIT!  Don’t forget to check out the Fairy Loot website to see pictures and details of their past book boxes and to also see their price plans for subscriptions. You can find all of my unboxings on my unboxings page

Fairy Loot has also released some information about future boxes:

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017… Only, I didn’t read it in 2017, because I AM RUBBISH at keeping on top of my TBR. But when I found out that Lauren James would be attending YALC 2018, I decided that it was about time that I started reading this book. I love a good science fiction novel, and after reading Lauren James’ The Next Together, I had fallen in love with James’ writing style.

I was browsing Audible, looking for a book to listen to when I came across The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter. From the title, I could tell that it was a take on Jekyll and Hyde. I read the premise, and it was something that I knew that I would really enjoy. I love reading books about classic literature, and I love reading re-tellings of them.

Q&A with Brendan Reichs

Q&A with Brendan Reichs

For those of you who are regular visitors of my blog and regular viewers of my BookTube channel, you will know that I am OBSESSED with Brendan Reichs’ books: Nemesis, and the sequel, Genesis. For the release of Genesis, Pan Macmillan contacted me and asked if I would like to be sent a copy of Genesis (of course, I agreed). Once I had read, reviewed, and sent the review to Pan Macmillan, my correspondent at the publishing house asked if I would like to ask Reichs some questions. I nearly died a fangirl death.

So here we go! These are the questions I was dying to ask him, and these are his answers. Enjoy!

Oh, I do love a good book about books. They make me feel all warm inside and I can relate to absolutely everything that happens… Perks of being a book lover! When I saw this book on Netgalley, I instantly requested it. It’s just the type of contemporary that I love reading and I had such high expectations!
