Welcome to my YALC diary DAY TWO!! If you haven’t read my post about my first day in London, then you can check it out here. Technically, today was the first day of YALC, but because I got to London yesterday, then for me, today is day two.
Since it was the first day of YALC, I had a lot planned, and I wanted to make sure that I got around to everything. I’m a YALC newbie, so I wanted to SEE everything, DO everything and just take everything in. …
Whist I’m at YALC during the weekend, I’m going to try and aim to write blog posts like this for each day that I’m there so I can keep you guys updated on what I did during the day, what authors I met and so on…
Also, when YALC has finished (thinking about that right now is making me so sad), I’m going to be posting a YALC 2018 review of some sorts, so I can share my overall thoughts with you on what I liked, and what I didn’t like (but I’m hoping that there won’t be any negativity!) …
I really did try not to buy a lot of books this month. And in my defence, 85% of this book haul are books that I’ve pre-ordered. It’s pretty much only the paperbacks that I’ve bought spontaneously in Waterstones. I did splurge a little bit on a couple of Barnes and Noble exclusive editions, but I couldn’t help myself. They were just tempting me so much!
Anyway, let’s get on with my June book haul! …
So I kind of went a bit overboard for buying books in May… I genuinely don’t know what’s wrong with me! I CAN’T STOP BUYING BOOKS! Like previous book hauls, this one is split into sections: graphic novels, manga, and then ‘normal’ books. There is normally an academic book section (because I have a tendency to buy A LOT of academic books), but this month, I didn’t buy any!
Anyway, let’s just get on with the haul… …

So I did a thing… I decided to give up buying books for lent. The following books are ones that I actually pre-ordered and they just arrived in March. I wasn’t actually going to give up anything for lent, but I decided to give up buying books to really challenge myself. And in my defence, I actually pre-ordered these books in January or something like that, so I didn’t buy any book at all in March!

I genuinely thought that I didn’t buy a lot of books in February. IN MY DEFENCE THOUGH, I bought a lot of these books from charity shops where they were £1.50. I am so excited to read all of these books, some of them just sound brilliant and some of them are sequels to ones that I’ve already read.
