December 2016 Book Haul

December 2016 Book Haul

It’s the end of another year and how fast that year has gone…  I didn’t really buy that many books in December, I bought ten and nearly all of them were from the charity shop bookstore that I volunteer at so – thankfully – I didn’t spend a lot of money. The only two that I bought brand new was Lament for the Fallen and The Essex Serpent. Go me for being good with money… For only one month…

Anyway, let’s get into my book haul!

Christmas 2016 Haul!

Christmas 2016 Haul!

When my parents asked me a few months ago what I wanted for my birthday and Christmas, all I asked for was books. Now I know that I have about 10,000,000 books to read already but more books = more choice. Right? I got so many books for my 21st birthday and I haven’t even begun to start reading them yet, but for Christmas, I got a more eclectic range that I cannot wait to dive into (well… once I’ve read all of my other books which may take 10 years)

November 2016 Book Haul

November 2016 Book Haul

November was a big month for me. It’s the month where I turned 21, it’s the month where I had a truckload of university assignments that had to be handed in and it’s the month where I bought hardly any books. For once.

Mom, if you’re reading this, I hope you’re proud of me. I’m not going to include my birthday book haul in this post because I’ve done this as a seperate post.

Evn though I bought very few books this month, I think that November was a very good month for book buying… So guys, here we go.

My 21st Birthday Haul!

My 21st Birthday Haul!

It was my birthday yesterday and I turned 21… I wasn’t excited AT ALL and loads of people kept asking me ‘why?’ I didn’t know, all I knew is that I wasn’t bothered at all for my ‘milestone birthday’. The thing that I was looking forward to, however, was that I knew I was going to be receiving some books off my parents and I wanted to see which ones they had chosen to get me.

So without further ado, these are the thirteen books that I received for my birthday:

October 2016 Book Haul

October 2016 Book Haul

So it’s that time of the month again where I have to hang my head in shame and introduce myself like this: ‘hello, my name is Kirsty and I’m a book addict’. You know how I said in my September book haul that I was going to try to buy only a few books in October? Well, the key word there is ‘try’. Because I really did try… I just failed… Epically.

I don’t even know what happened. One second, I had only bought four and then the next thing I know, I have a pile of twenty-five books just waiting to be hauled. So here we go then… Here is the list of books that I bought in October:

September 2016 Book Haul

September 2016 Book Haul

At the end of another month means one thing… IT’S GETTING CLOSER TO CHRISTMAS! No… I mean as much as I am excited for Christmas, the end of the month means I get to show you guys all of the books that I’ve hauled over the past month.

It’s definitely not as many as last month (which was 25!) August consisted of me gong crazy with my book buying and then trying to live off the little money I had left.

Even though it’s the end of September and I have got my student loan off my university, I’m going to be trying to keep the book hauling down to a minimum so that I can keep saving my money (it might not work because I love books too much but oh well… At least I’m trying…)

Here we go then… The books that I bought in September.

Kaitlyn Fairchild has always felt like an outsider. Her haunting eyes and prophetic drawings have earned her a reputation as a witch. But Kait’s not a witch: she’s psychic. Tired of being shunned, Kat accepts an invitation to attend the Zetes Institute, where she can study with other psychic teens and have a fresh start.
A Kaitlyn learns to hone her abilities with four other gifted students, she starts to discover the intensity of her power – and the joy of having true friends. But those friendships quickly become complicated when Kait finds herself torn between two irresistible guys. Rob is a healer – kind and gentle, he’s surrounded by good energy, while Gabriel is aggressive and mysterious – a telepath concealing his true nature.
Together, Rob and Gabriel’s opposing forces start to threaten the group’s stability, and when an experiment traps the five teens in a psychic link – a link that threatens their sanity and their lives – Kaitlyn must decide who to trust and who to love…
Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he’ll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist;
Break into the notorious Ice Court (a military stronghold that has never been breached)
Retrieve a hostage (who could unleash magical havoc on the world)
Survive long enough to collect his reward (and spend it)
Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done – and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.

A child is kidnapped with consequences that extend across worlds… A writer reaches into the past to discover the truth about a possible murder… Far away a young woman prepares for her mysterious future…

In a future scarred by fracking and ecological collapse, Jenna Hoolman’s world is dominated by smart dog racing: greyhounds genetically modified with human DNA. When her young niece goes missing that world implodes… Christy’s life is dominated by fear of her brother, a man she knows capable of monstrous acts and suspects of hiding even darker ones. Desperate to learn the truth she contacts Alex, who has his own demons to fight… And Maree, a young woman undertaking a journey that will change her world forever.

Mike Wood is a teenager with more brawn than brains. But one day he finds The Calendar od Sleights, a mysterious old book of unknown authorship – and discovers that he is, in fact, possessed of certain magical powers.

Suddenly, his world becomes very weird.

For there is a war being waged deep beneath New York City.

A war between rivalling factions of magicians.

A war that has spanned the ages.

A clandestine war against the establishment.

A war against The Assholes.

Along with his new comrades, Mike might just be the one to end the conflict once and for all.

One prescription isn’t enough for two. A child soldier comes home. And Mary faces her last request. What if hid was happening here? And what if these people were white?

Tempted by pride to try spells beyond his means, Sparrowhawk lets loose an evil shadow-beast in his land. Only he can destroy it, and the quest leads him to the farthest corner of Earthsea.

Some houses are more than just haunted… they’re hungry. Dash, Dylan, Poppy, Marcus and Azumi don’t know this at first. They each think they’ve been summoned to Shadow House for innocent reasons.

But there’s nothing innocent about Shadow House.

Something within its walls is wickedly wrong. Nothing – and nobody – can be trusted.

Hallways move. Doors vanish. Ghosts appear. Children disappear.

And the way out? That’s disappeared too…

The Lunar Chronicles #2

Scarlett Benoit’s grandmother is missing. The police have closed her case. The only person Scarlet can turn to is Wolf, a street fighter she does not trust, but they are drawn to each other.

As Scarlett and Wolf expose one mystery, they encounter Cinder and a new one unravels. Together they must challenge the evil queen, who will stop at nothing to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner…

This is the story of Winter, an Earth-like planet with two major differences: conditions are semi-arctic even at the warmest time of the year, and the inhabitants are all of the same sex. Tucked away in a remote corner of the universe, they have no knowledge of space travel or of life beyond their own world. And when a strange envoy from space brings news of a vast coalition of planets which they are invited to join, he is met with fear, mistrust and disbelief…

Imagine the world at stake.

An epic struggle between good and evil.

The greatest quest in history.

The fate of humanity resting in your hands.

Are you ready?

Okay, so I bought twenty books in September… I genuinely thought that I hadn’t bought a lot but it turns out that I did… Still, it was five less than what I bought in August so I’m doing good! Let’s see if I can buy even less in October – even though that will break my heart because there’s so many good books coming out in October!
What books did you buy in September? Have you already read some of the books that I bought? Let me know in the comments!

August 2016 Book Haul

So you’ve probably realised by now – by reading my blog or following me on Twitter – that books are a massive part of my life. I can’t go a day without reading or gazing longingly at my ‘to buy’ list – knowing full well that I don’t have any money to buy them.

August has been a massive month for buying books. My parents would say that I went overboard but I say “HELL YEAH!!” but then my bank account says “please stop…!”

Here we go then… The list of the books that I bought in August. Get ready for quite a long blog post guys! Don’t say I didn’t warn you! I’ve also added the blurb underneath the picture so you can get a rough idea as to what it’s about.
