I don’t even know what happened in the first half of this book. I picked up this book about three times and I ended up getting bored at around 22%. But I knew that I had to write this review, so that meant that I had to try and get through as much of this book as possible, so I started it again and forced my way through it… And finally, I finished it, and this is my verdict.
Orbiting Jupiter is a very short book. At 183 pages, Schmidt makes every page a rollercoaster and packs as much action and feels into each chapter as he can. One of Us is Lying starts off sounding like The Breakfast Club: a group of teenagers in detention and slowly, they get to know each other and become close. So a big part of this book is religious. There is a family that has strong Christian views and the father of our protagonist is a pastor. However, I am not religious in any way, and I really didn’t mind the Christian aspect of the book, it didn’t seem in-your-face and forced upon you, it was just there as part of the character’s life and actually, it was quite interesting to read about how she tackled her life and her faith at the same time. …

The thing that drew me to this book was a black girl on the front cover. Let me repeat that: A BLACK GIRL ON THE FRONT COVER. I saw it and just said to myself “about bloody time.” The cover design is absolutely beautiful and I genuinely can’t get enough of it and look at the typography! Look how amazing it is! Forests of the Fae: Devlin’s Door was a very quick and fast-paced read. I was actually very interested in this book as I love anything to do with magic, evil fairies and different realms. I have also just found out that this is actually the first book in a series, which is quite interesting. I don’t know much about the second book, but it would be interesting to see what it’s like and if it’s any better than this one. …
