The Diabolic by S.J Kincaid

The Diabolic by S.J Kincaid

I was a bit apprehensive to read this for some unknown reason. Maybe it was the hype that surrounded it? I have no idea. Also, whilst I was reading it, I kept thinking that it was Scythe by Neal Shusterman (?) I genuinely have no clue what was going on inside of my head. I know that S.J Kincaid wrote a very popular series before The Diabolic, but this is the first book that I had ever read by her, and I was curious to see what all of the hype was about.

Frostblood by Elly Blake

Frostblood by Elly Blake

I have seen so many mixed reviews for this book! I’m coming to the realisation that it’s either a love/hate book and there’s no in-between? I don’t know, that’s the vibe I’m getting from all of the reviews that I’ve been reading about it. And because it’s me, and I’m a very difficult person, I didn’t hate this book, but I didn’t LOOOOOVVVEEEE this book, which is why I’m giving it a 4 out of 5.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Holly Black is the queen of all the fae. She co-wrote the AMAZING series of The Spiderwick Chronicles with Tony DiTerlizzi and then she went on to write amazing books such as The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and The Darkest Part of the Forest. So when I was sent this book by the publisher, I had majorly high expectations going into it and I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed.

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

Stephanie Perkins is (apparently) the Queen of young adult contemporary novels. I say apparently because I haven’t read her contemporary work. So when she released the premise of her new novel: There’s Someone Inside Your House, I was instantly intrigued. Perkins had left the world of gushy, cheesy, romantic, contemporary and delved into the world of thriller, murder and mystery.

Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody

Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody

If you’re a regular reader of my reviews, you will know that I am not a big fan of circus/carnival books and the only one that I truly loved was Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I’ve read a handful more of similar storylines, yet they never seem to leave me hankering for more. Daughter of the Burning City was better than other circus/carnival books that I have read but it still wasn’t a book that I would read again and again.

The House by Simon Lelic

The House by Simon Lelic

If someone told me that I would be reading loads of thrillers in the future, I wouldn’t have believed them. I do like reading the odd one or two here and there, but I find that thrillers tend to be a bit samey. However, The House was a different type of thriller and a type that I haven’t read before.

Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew J. Sullivan

Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew J. Sullivan

I’m not going to lie, when the blurb for this book was sent to me, I scan read it. I thought it would be a happy book about a bookstore and the greatness of being in one. HAHAHA. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This is a THRILLER about a suicide that takes place in a bookstore. Good job I like thrillers then, isn’t it?
