Fairy Loot Unboxing | March 2021
Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! So, for this month the theme was ‘Frozen Fables’.
For the past few months, Fairy Loot boxes have been arriving a few of weeks later than usual due to the pandemic, hence why the March box is actually being shipped in April.
Let’s get on with the unboxing…
Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork which is designed by Taratjah! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!
Ahhhhh, yes. Another mug. Pretty much every single one of my bookshelves are lined with mugs. Don’t get me wrong, they’re bloody beautiful, and I do love a good mug… But I’m being bombarded with them now 😂 and I’ve got no idea what to do with them. I’ve seen a few ideas on Pinterest that show how you can use them for plant pots, which is interesting and cute.
This mug was inspired by The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden and was designed by Monolimeart. It’s so beautiful, and it’s still a series that’s on my TBR.
The next item in this months box was this phone ring holder which was designed by Iron and Ink Designs and inspired by Winterwood Shea Ernshaw (which is a book I REALLY want to read!) I immediately wanted to test out the phone ring holder as my pop socket is basically falling apart. But, it didn’t stick properly onto my phone case and kept falling off… After ten tries, I gave up. So, I absolutely loved the idea of it, and I loved the design, but unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me.

The next item was this GORGEOUS headband. I used this today once I got out fo the shower to keep my hair back and I really really liked it! It’s inspired by the Something Dark and Holy series by Emily A. Duncan, and was designed by Catarina’s Book Designs.

I. LOVE. SOCKS. SO. MUCH. If socks were included in every single box, I wouldn’t care. At all. They make me so happy 😆. These were designed by JezHawk (Jennifer Hawkyard) and are inspired by Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett (which was the book of the month for the September 2017 box)

This is another item that I can’t get enough of: notebooks. Even though I wish it was lined, this notebook is absolutely beautiful. The designs, the colours, the typography… Everything about this is just amazing. It was designed by Taratjah, and was inspired by Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones.
One of the last items included in the box was this art print inspired by Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. It has foil edges and is stunning.
As usual, Fairy Loot have included tarot cards that are inspired by a fandom. This months tarot cards were inspired by the The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden and were designed by @arz28
Finally, the book of the month is The Bright & The Pale by Jessica Rubinkowski. This edition has an exclusive cover (click here to see the original cover), artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket by @gabsternaut, sprayed edges (which are shiny!), embossing on the hardcover, is signed by the author, and also has custom endpapers. There was also a letter from the author with artwork on the reverse by @gabsternaut.
Seventeen-year-old Valeria is one of the only survivors of the freeze, a dark magical hold Knnot Mountain unleashed over her village. Everyone, including her family, is trapped in an unbreakable sheet of ice. Ever since, she’s been on the run from the Czar, who is determined to imprison any who managed to escape. Valeria finds refuge with the Thieves Guild, doing odd jobs with her best friend Alik, the only piece of home she has left.
That is, until he is brutally murdered.
A year later, she discovers Alik is alive and being held against his will. To buy his freedom, she must lead a group of cutthroats and thieves on a perilous expedition to the very mountain that claimed her family. Only something sinister slumbers in the heart of Knnot.
And it has waited years for release.
CW: death of a family member, discrimination, childhood trauma, work camps
As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / March 2021 / ‘Frozen Fables’ printed on the back!
The April theme has also been announced, and it’s called ‘Hidden Identities’. If you want to know what I think the book of month will be, CLICK HERE!
The book of the month will be an exclusive edition which will have a different cover, stencilled and sprayed edges, foil embossing on the hardcover, bonus content, signed by the author, and it will also have artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket.
