Fairy Loot Unboxing | February 2021

Fairy Loot Unboxing | February 2021

Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! So, for this month the theme was ‘What the Future Holds’ and when the theme was announced last month, I couldn’t really figure out what the book would be, even after going onto Goodreads and looking on the February releases list! For the past few months, Fairy Loot boxes have been arriving a few of weeks later than usual due to the pandemic, hence why the February box is actually being shipped in March.

Let’s get on with the unboxing…

Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork which is designed by Taratjah! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!

The next item that I saw was this beautiful, blue candle from Flick the Wick who are one of my favourite bookish candle companies. I’ve been waiting for another candle for absolutely aggggeeessss since I used up all of my subscription candles a while ago. This candle is inspired by The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer!

OOOMMMMMGGGGG!!! I LOVE CUTLERY SO MUCH. I’M SUCH AN OLD WOMAN. I remember when Fairy Loot included a rainbow cutlery set (fork, spoon, and chopsticks) in one of their previous boxes and I use them whenever they’re not in the dishwasher. I love them so much. So, as soon as I saw the rectangle box (and beautiful artwork designed by @warickaart), I knew exactly what they were going to be. And hey, check me out in the spoon in my dressing gown. Yes, it was 3pm and I was still in my dressing gown. It’s lockdown, ok? Don’t judge.

This is such a beautiful cutlery set, and after giving them a quick wash, I’m going to use them tonight! Each utensil has a quote on the handles from Warcross by Marie Lu.

Who doesn’t love some fairy lights?! These gorgeous moon fairy lights (that smell like scoobies (do you remember those?!!!!)) were bought to us by Fairy Loot. I just need to figure out where to put them, because I love moons so much.

Ahhhhhh, the pillowcase! I’ve got so many now. I remember when I used to buy a new pillow every time I got a pillowcase in a subscription box. Now, I do the common sense thing and just swap round them round whenever I’m feeling a change-up. This beautifully designed pillowcase (take a shot every time I type pillowcase!) was designed by @lizzart_zardonicz and was inspired by the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown.

As usual, Fairy Loot have included tarot cards that are inspired by a fandom. This months tarot cards were inspired by the Spin the Dawn series by Elizabeth Lim and were designed by @arz28

AAANNNNNNDDDDD… finally we have the book of the month which is This Golden Flame by Emily Victoria. I actually haven’t heard anything about this book. I don’t know whether that’s because I’ve been taking some time off Twitter lately, or whether there just hasn’t been a lot of hype surrounding the book. But, after reading the synopsis, I’m very very intrigued! It sounds like something that I’d really like.

The Fairy Loot edition has an exclusive cover (to see the original cover, click here), sprayed edges, is signed by the author, has artwork on the reverse dust jacket (by @warickaart), and also has some of the most beautiful foil embossing on the hardcover that I think I’ve ever seen (also by @warickaart).

As usual, there is also a letter from the author, with character artwork (by @warickaart) on the back.

Orphaned and forced to serve her country’s ruling group of scribes, Karis wants nothing more than to find her brother, long ago shipped away. But family bonds don’t matter to the Scriptorium, whose sole focus is unlocking the magic of an ancient automaton army.

In her search for her brother, Karis does the seemingly impossible—she awakens a hidden automaton. Intelligent, with a conscience of his own, Alix has no idea why he was made. Or why his father—their nation’s greatest traitor—once tried to destroy the automatons.

Suddenly, the Scriptorium isn’t just trying to control Karis; it’s hunting her. Together with Alix, Karis must find her brother…and the secret that’s held her country in its power for centuries.

As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / February 2021 / ‘What the Future Holds’ printed on the back!

The March theme has also been announced which is ‘Frozen Fables‘. This edition will have an exclusive cover, shiny sprayed edges, artwork on the reverse dust jacket, foil embossing on the hardcover, signed by the author, and will also have custom endpapers.
