Top 10 Tuesday: Resolutions/Hopes for 2021 | 12/01/21
Yes, I’m here again with another Top 10 Tuesday post. I’m trying to get back into taking part in the weekly challenge as I love how it brings the book blogging community together!
This week’s theme has us talking about our bookish (or non-bookish) resolutions for 2021. I actually made my own post about some of the bookish resolutions I made for 2021, so some of these may be repeated, but I’ll also include some personal ones if I can think of any! 😂
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish list prompt originally hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
The topic for this week is:
Resolutions/Hopes for 2021
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
1. I want to read more graphic novels
Not only do they help push your Goodreads challenge along, but they also have pretty pictures. 😂
2. I want to read more manga
Same as above. Brilliant for Goodreads challenge, amazing artwork, and ugghhh… I just love manga so much.
3. I want to try and read new releases when they come out
I’m not gonna lie, this is a long shot. It’s very rare that I’ll read a new release when it comes out, because I’m a mood reader, and I want to try and get through books that have been on my TBR for a long time. But then… There are some AMAZING books coming out this year.
4. Reduce my medication dose by the end of the year
I’ve been taking 100mg Sertraline for my depression and anxiety for a VERY long time now. And even reducing the mg during a stressful time like the pandemic probably isn’t the best option, by December, I’m hoping that I can be down to 50mg.
5. I want to try and read 50 books
Hey, would you look at that! I’ve already read 10 books! I’m hoping that I can keep this pace up, even though I’ve read 0 books that were on my January TBR.
6. I want to try and try different genres
I know you should read what you enjoy, but how do you know if you don’t enjoy something unless you try it? Historical fiction/crime/adult fiction… Not really things that I would usually read, but I’m willing to give them a go!
7. Save as much money up as I can (probs not gonna happen)
This is a weird situation because it’s hard to save up money when you’re not really getting any income. Because of working in a pub, I’ve hardly worked since last March. Which sucks. Yes, I’m getting the 80% furlough, but it still doesn’t work out as much a week. So, it’s hard to save up money when I’m not really getting any and all I’m doing is being stuck at home with nothing but hundreds of online shops at my fingertips.
8. Try and rely LESS on audiobooks!
This is one of the resolutions that don’t really bother me that much. I love audiobooks. They’ve completely saved my reading. But I have A LOT of physical books on my TBR that I need to read.
9. Try and find a job in publishing (also probably not going to happen)
Yeah… This is not going to happen. I applied for two positions near the end of 2020 and I didn’t get them.
10. Try and keep this blog going!
The past couple of years have been hard for me blogging-wise. I wasn’t really posting anything other than the odd review, book tag or unboxing. I just didn’t have any effort. But, in December 2020, I posted every single day (apart from Christmas day), and it felt so good to have those interactions with readers and other bloggers again. So, I’m hoping that I can keep it going, just with my new schedule of posting Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Future Top 10 Tuesday Topics:
January 19: Books I Meant to Read In 2020 but Didn’t Get To (You could take this opportunity to tell us what’s left on your seasonal TBRs from last year. Or books you were super excited about and then you didn’t get to them.)
January 26: New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020 (If you didn’t read 10 new authors, that’s fine! Just do what you can.)
February 2: Books Written Before I Was Born (These can be books you’ve read or want to read!) (submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog)
February 9: Valentine’s Day/Love Freebie
February 16: Purple, Yellow, and/or Green Book Covers (in honor of Mardis Gras, which is today!)
February 23: Books That Made Me Laugh Out Loud (Claire @ Book Lovers Pizza)

Trying new genres is a great idea.
My post.
I’d like to try and get to 50 books this year too, though I always start the year at a lower goal and work my way up.

Great resolutions – really hope your medication goes well and you stay strong. 50 books would be so impressive: I usually even out at about 40! These are my bookish New Year Resolutions, and some that I know I could not achieve!
One of my unofficial reading goals is actually the opposite of yours – I want to listen to MORE audiobooks. I listened to a few this year, but I want to find more great ones to listen to.
Good luck with all of your goals!
Happy TTT!

Love that you listed graphic novels on here this week. And you featured From Hell! One of my favorites.
