Fairy Loot Unboxing | December 2020

Fairy Loot Unboxing | December 2020

Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! So, for this month the theme was ‘Thick as Thieves’ and when the theme was announced last month, I genuinely had no idea what the book was going to be. For the past few months, Fairy Loot boxes have been arriving a couple of weeks later than usual due to the pandemic, however for December, we received the box quite early! JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS! Thank you Fairy Loot for going above and beyond as always to make sure your customers are happy!

So, it’s winter. It’s dark, and today in particular, it’s depressingly grey because it’s raining non-stop (welcome to the U.K.), so the pictures have come out darker than I wanted to them to, but hey, there’s nothing that you can do about the weather!

Let’s get on with the unboxing…

Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork which is designed by Taratjah! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!

OH MY GOD I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW! I love beanies so much. I’m (kinda) still in my emo phase and beanies give me life. This particular beanie was designed by Jennifer Hawkyard and was inspired by The Hobbit!

Another amazing item that was included in this months box was this notepad designed by @eunicify.art and is inspired by Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi.

I was going to design my own calendar, but luckily I don’t have to! Which is a good job to be honest, because I REALLY COULDN’T BE BOTHERED. Fairy Loot have included this beautiful 2021 calendar that has gorgeous artwork by Dominique Wesson. The books featured are: Percy Jackson (Jan & Feb), Scythe (Nov & Dec), A Darker Shade of Magic (Sept & Oct), Throne of Glass (March & April), The Gilded Wolves (July & Aug), and Dance of Thieves (May & June).

Up next in the box was this art print inspired by The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, which I absolutely adore. It was designed by @_saintdri and is going up on my wall straight away!

I love it when Fairy Loot includes these boxes. Each design is so beautiful and the box was that was included this month was possibly my favourite.

I love it when book subscription boxes include letter openers. I mean, I’m never going to use them, but THEY’RE SO PRETTY! This letter opener was inspired by the Damaris sword from Throne of Glass and was brought to us exclusively by Fairy Loot.

As usual, Fairy Loot have included tarot cards that are inspired by a fandom. This months tarot cards were inspired by Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas and were designed by @arz28

ANNNNNNNNDDDDD… here is the book of the month: Master of One by Jaida Jones & Dani Bennett. I haven’t heard anything about this book on Goodreads or in the blogosphere, so I’m very intrigued by it. The Fairy Loot edition has a signed bookplate that is signed by both of the authors, artwork on the reverse dust jacket by @bloodydamnit, sprayed shimmery edges, and exclusive foiling on the hardcover.

As usual, there was also a letter from the author included that featured amazing artwork by @bloodydamnit.

Rags is a thief—an excellent one. He’s stolen into noble’s coffers, picked soldier’s pockets, and even liberated a ring or two off the fingers of passersby. Until he’s caught by the Queensguard and forced to find an ancient fae relic for a sadistic royal sorcerer.

But Rags could never have guessed this “relic” would actually be a fae himself—a distractingly handsome, annoyingly perfect, ancient fae prince called Shining Talon. Good thing Rags can think on his toes, because things just get stranger from there…

As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / December 2020 / ‘Thick as Thieves’ printed on the back!

NEXT MONTH’S THEME IS ‘Greek Mythology’. The book of the month includes an exclusive cover, sprayed and stencilled edges, artwork on the reverse dust jacket, foil embossing on the hardcover, custom endpapers, and will also have a printed signature.
