Illumicrate Unboxing | April 2020
Who doesn’t love a good book subscription box, eh? You get loads of bookish goodies, and when it arrives every month, it feels like your birthday/Christmas and it’s amazing. It’s like a present from you to you.
Anyway, let’s get into the unboxing!
The theme for this month was ‘Squad Goals’.
As usual with sub boxes, there is a spoiler card inside that tells you the theme for the month and also what you can find inside the box, but I never read this until I have seen every single item, as I don’t want to spoilt!
One can never have enough tote bags, and they come in handy when I’m going to book conventions like YALC, so I always love getting them. This tote bag was designed by Rachel Bostick and was inspired by The Fellowship of the Ring.
This necklace – inspired by His Dark Materials – was supposed to be included in the March box, but unfortunately wasn’t shipped in time for it to be included, so Illumicrate put it in the April box instead. It’s so beautiful and it was created by Hannah Hitchman.
I have never seen a portable phone charger included in a subscription box before, but there’s always a first! This design was inspired by Aurora Rising.
This pen is just gorgeous. I love it so much and it writes smoothly which is always a massive bonus when it comes to pens. This was bought to us exclusively by Illumicrate.
I think I may have 3 mugs full of bookmarks. I. HAVE. SO. MANY, and the pile doesn’t seem to be staying the same. BUT! When there are beautifully designed bookmarks like this out there, who can blame me for keep buying them? The artwork was done by MerWild and was inspired by the Witchlands series.
This may be one of the best items that I have ever received in a subscription box.
Funny story:
the night before I received this box, I was talking to my family about having a meal plan. So, instead of wondering what we were going to have for dinner every night, we could just look at the plan and we knew what we were going to have. I went into town the next morning to try and find one, but alas, I couldn’t find one. When I got home, I had received my Illumicrate box, I opened it and saw this whiteboard.
It now sits proudly on my fridge with weekly meal plans on there. #winning!
Designed by AenteeReads and inspired by The Gilded Wolves, I think it’s safe to say that I absolutely love it.
And HERE IT IS! The book of the month was Dangerous Remedy by Kat Dunn. This edition is signed by the author, exclusive spray painted edges, and has exclusive embossing on the hardcover underneath the jacket. Also included was artwork of the characters of this months book by @Nicole.deal.art.
Camille, a revolutionary’s daughter, leads a band of outcasts – a runaway girl, a deserter, an aristocrat in hiding. As the Battalion des Mortes they cheat death, saving those about to meet a bloody end at the blade of Madame La Guillotine. But their latest rescue is not what she seems. The girl’s no aristocrat, but her dark and disturbing powers means both the Royalists and the Revolutionaries want her. But who and what is she?
In these dangerous days, no one can be trusted, everyone is to be feared. As Camille learns the truth, she’s forced to choose between loyalty to those she loves and the future.
Thank you to Illumicrate for a box filled to the brim of bookish goodness. I can’t wait for next months box which is themed ‘Monstrous’ and has exclusive sprayed edges, and is also signed by the author.
Believe me guys, you do not want to miss out!
