Fairy Loot Unboxing | January 2020
Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! So, for this month the theme was ‘Moon & Stars’ and when the theme was announced last month, I genuinely had no idea what the book was going to be. I scoured Goodreads for even a little clue, but I couldn’t find anything!
Let’s get on with the unboxing…
Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork which is designed by Taratjah! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!
The first item that I saw in the box were this GORGEOUS star fairy lights. They’re wire, so you can bend them whatever way you like. They’re a little bit short to put around a bookshelf or something like that, but they’re perfect to wrap around your bed headframe. I would do it to mine, but my head frame is quite low, so I’d be basically lying on the the lights! They were made exclusively by Fairy Loot.
I think that the first thing I thought when I saw this was ‘oh my god, Fairy Loot are reducing their packaging’. I don’t think they’ve used just normal brown paper to wrap things up before, so I’m really glad to see it.
Inside, there was a cute dragon keyring that was inspired by Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett and was designed by Dust and Pages.
My notebook drawer is nearly overflowing, but YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH NOTEBOOKS! This one was designed by Fairy Loot, and is inspired by Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman.
Another brown paper bag alert! It’s so exciting! Inside was this amazing moon phases necklace. I love the moon. I’m obsessed, and this necklace is just perfect. It was designed by Noverantale.
Like with notebooks, I think that stationary is another thing one can’t have enough of. These beautiful moon and star paperclips were bought to us exclusively by Fairy Loot.
Fairy Loot included a trinket dish in one of their previous boxes and it’s been so useful to keep all of my earring studs in, and I’m so glad that I’ve finally go another one to go along side it. Again, this was bought to us by Fairy Loot.
I know that I said in my blog post about book subscription boxes that I was tired of seeing pillow cases, but I can’t be annoyed at this. This is such an amazing design. I love the quote, the colours, the back design as well… it’s just gorgeous. So, I’ll let Fairy Loot off with this one! The quote is from Oscar Wilde and the pillow case was designed by Becky Thorns Designs.

As usual, Fairy Loot have included two character tarot cards, and these were inspired by the Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir.
Aaaaannnnddddd…. The book of the month is Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibañez. I don’t think that I’ve heard anything about this book on the blogosphere, but after reading the blurb, I can tell that it sounds really interesting, and definitely something that I would end up buying in Waterstones.
This months book included an exclusive cover, artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket that was done by Ibañez herself, which I think is amazing. It’s also signed by the author, has an embossed moon on the hardcover and it comes with stickers as well, which I think is a nice touch.
On the reverse of the letter from the author is some lovely artwork by @katbdraws.
Ximena is the decoy Condesa, a stand-in for the last remaining Illustrian royal. Her people lost everything when the usurper, Atoc, used an ancient relic to summon ghosts and drive the Illustrians from La Ciudad. Now Ximena’s motivated by her insatiable thirst for revenge, and her rare ability to spin thread from moonlight.
When Atoc demands the real Condesa’s hand in marriage, it’s Ximena’s duty to go in her stead. She relishes the chance, as Illustrian spies have reported that Atoc’s no longer carrying his deadly relic. If Ximena can find it, she can return the true aristócrata to their rightful place.
She hunts for the relic, using her weaving ability to hide messages in tapestries for the resistance. But when a masked vigilante, a warm-hearted princess, and a thoughtful healer challenge Ximena, her mission becomes more complicated. There could be a way to overthrow the usurper without starting another war, but only if Ximena turns her back on revenge—and her Condesa.
As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / January 2020 / ‘Moon & Stars’ printed on the back!
Thank you to Fairy Loot for another month of bookish goodness. I can’t wait for next months box which is themed ‘Rulebreakers’. After reading the description of the book, I know exactly what the book is, because I have an ARC of it, and have already started reading it, and let me tell you guys… IT’S AMAZING SO FAR!
If you would like to know what the book is, just comment below and I’ll let you know!
Fairy Loot have stated that the May box will feature a ceramic mug inspired by Serpent & Dove, and that the book will have an exclusive cover, artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket, embossing on the hardcover and will also be signed by the author.
