Fairy Loot Unboxing | March 2019
Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! If you don’t already know, I now also have a YouTube channel where I have also filmed an unboxing as well as writing this blog post. So, for this month the theme was ‘Favourites’ and when the theme was announced last month, I genuinely had no idea what the book was going to be. I scoured Goodreads for even a little clue, but I couldn’t find anything!
Let’s get on with the unboxing…
Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork which is designed by Taratjah! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!
I’ve always wanted to tab my books but I never know how to do it. I know that sounds so stupid but I just never know. At least with these, I know when to tab and what themes to tab. But then we go onto the next problem… I don’t always have tabs on me so when I go to read, I forget the tabs and then just… Yeah, don’t end up tabbing. #problems. These tabs were bought to us exclusively by Fairy Loot.
And @morgana0anagrom has done it again with her amazing art work! I can’t get over how beautiful these art prints are. I’ve only read The Cruel Prince out of the three but I am IN LOVE with the Warcross print.
Another item that was bought to us by Fairy Loot are these comfy socks that are inspired by Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. I’m actually wearing these right now, and THEY’RE SO WARM!!
I’ve been a subscriber of the Fairy Loot box for a couple of years now, and I’ve seen magnetic bookmarks, paper bookmarks and wooden bookmarks, but I haven’t seen a metal bookmark. This is probably one of the most beautiful bookmarks that I have ever seen, and to make it even better, it has one of my favourite quotes on from Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor.
I’m not one for wearing scarves. If I do, I always wear the warm, thick ones in the winter – never these thin material ones. But even though I know I’m not going to wear it, I can still appreciate the gorgeous design of the scarf, and all of the brilliant books that have been drawn on it.
Because this months box was the anniversary box, Fairy Loot have included two books instead of one. The first book that was included was Viper by Box Hogan. I’ve heard so many good things about this book, and I can’t wait to read it! It’s also an exclusive cover and also signed!
He will make me a killer. Or he will have me killed. That is my destiny.
Seventeen-year-old Marianne is fated to one day become the Viper, defender of the Twelve Isles.
But the reigning Viper stands in her way. Corrupt and merciless, he prowls the seas in his warship, killing with impunity, leaving only pain and suffering in his wake.
He’s the most dangerous man on the ocean . . . and he is Marianne’s father.
She was born to protect the islands. But can she fight for them if it means losing her family, her home, the boy she loves – and perhaps even her life?
About a year ago (?), Fairy Loot started including collectible tarot cards in their boxes.
And the final item that Fairy Loot have included in this collectible anniversary Fairy Loot pin badge!
Annnnndddd, the book of the month is To Best the Boys by Mary Weber. I haven’t heard anything about this book on the blogosphere or on YouTube so it’s quite the mystery to me. But, after reading the synopsis and some reviews, I’m really excited to read it!
This month’s book included is signed by the author and has gorgeous spray painted edges.
Every year for the past fifty-four years, the residents of Pinsbury Port have received a mysterious letter inviting all eligible-aged boys to compete for an esteemed scholarship to the all-male Stemwick University. The poorer residents look to see if their names are on the list. The wealthier look to see how likely their sons are to survive. And Rhen Tellur opens it to see if she can derive which substances the ink and parchment are created from, using her father’s microscope.
In the province of Caldon, where women train in wifely duties and men pursue collegiate education, sixteen-year-old Rhen Tellur wants nothing more than to become a scientist. As the poor of her seaside town fall prey to a deadly disease, she and her father work desperately to find a cure. But when her mum succumbs to it as well? Rhen decides to take the future into her own hands—through the annual all-male scholarship competition.
With her cousin, Seleni, by her side, the girls don disguises and enter Mr. Holm’s labyrinth, to best the boys and claim the scholarship prize. Except not everyone is ready for a girl who doesn’t know her place. And not everyone survives the deadly maze.
Along with the book, there was also a letter from the author with some character art work on the back that was designed by I Can Draw Thingz who is incredibly talented!
As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / March 2019 / ‘Favourites’ printed on the back!
Thank you to Fairy Loot for another month of bookish goodness. I can’t wait for next months box which is themed ‘Dark Magic’. After reading the description of the book, and checking Goodreads lists, I have no clue on what the book is, so it means that it’s going to be a nice surprise!
Don’t forget to check out the Fairy Loot website to see pictures and details of their past book boxes and to also see their price plans for subscriptions. You can find all of my unboxings on my unboxings page…
Believe me guys, you do not want to miss out!
