Top 10 Tuesday: Places Mentioned In Books That I’d Like to Visit | 26/02/19

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish list prompt originally hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

The rules are simple:

  • Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
  • Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
  • Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
  • Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.

The theme for this week is:

February 26: Places Mentioned In Books That I’d Like to Visit (submitted by Georgia @justreadthemm)

One of the things that I love the most about reading is all of the different places that you get to visit. I figured that I could list 10 places that are real that I would like to visit, but since I read more fantasy than anything, I thought that it would be fun to list 10 fantasy locations that I completely fell in love with.

Cabeswater sounds like such a magic (and dangerous) place, and it’s one that I would love to experience. Granted, I will probably get lost and freak out a little bit, but I think being in a magic wood will surpass any of that.

I’ve only recently read A Darker Shade of Magic (yes, I know, I am very very behind) but the thought of being able to travel across all of the different Londons is something that I would love to do. Granted, Grey and White London are a tad dangerous but I guess it would still be exiting. And then there’s Red London which is overflowing with magic which would be awesome, and then part of me kinda wants to visit Black London. Don’t ask me why, I’m just intrigued.

Even though Caraval is a pretty strange carnival to attend, I am so intrigued by this world and hey, you never know, maybe I’ll get to meet Julian… And maybe even Legend? The only downside to this is the fact that I’ve only read Caraval. I’m still yet to read Legendary, which is stupid because I don’t even get why I haven’t read it yet as I LOVED Caraval so much.

Listen, I love all three of the settings in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series, but there’s something about the way that Maniscalco writes about Romania and Dracula’s castle that I can’t get enough of. As soon as I had finished reading Hunting Prince Dracula, I started to look at pictures of Romania straight away, and oh my life, it looks gorgeous.

There’s especially the town of Sighișoara that is a medieval town in Transylvania that was the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. It’s also said to be pretty haunted which I’m all there for. Anyone fancy a trip to Romania?

I know that Hogwarts is going to be on everyone’s list but there’s a very good reason for that. It’s such a magical place where many of us imagined ourselves growing up in and attending. I’m 23 and I’m still waiting for the day where it’s announced that Hogwarts is actually a real place and that I’m a witch. But alas…

Still… at least I have the Warner Brother studios in London to go to whenever I’m feeling particularly sad about it not being real.

Granted, I’ve only read the first book but I loved the setting of the Library… I can’t seem to find any fan art on it at all which is such a shame because it seems like such a magical place. I just imagine it to be dark and dusty with random streams of light coming through and staircases winding up forever. It’s such a good location and I can’t wait to read more about it.

Beauty and the Beast (the original) is my favourite Disney film ever. One of the main reasons? The library in the Beast’s castle. I’ve always been an avid reader since the day I was born. I was constantly being read stories by my parents and other members of family, and then when I was old enough to read by myself, I constantly had a book in my hands. Which is why that this library is just one of the places that I wish that I could visit. Or you know… have enough money to replicate.

So I guess that this one is real life and fantasy because I would love to visit Middle-Earth. Just being able to visit so many different places within this world would be amazing. So I guess that the closest I can get to being in Middle-Earth is to go and visit New Zealand where most of the films were shot. Yay for a 24 hour flight.

I fell in love with the lost city of Weep just like Lazlo did and even though it’s not exactly the most safest of places to visit, I’m just so intrigued by this world.

Even though the world of the Shadowhunters is set in real life locations like England, Los Angeles and New York, I still think that it would be pretty amazing to be in the ACTUAL Shadowhunter world a be a part of it all. Yes, it’s hella dangerous but to be able to go into an actual institute would blow me away.
