February Wrap Up | 2019

February Wrap Up | 2019

Hey, guys and welcome to my February wrap up! I only read 8 books this month. I say only because a few of those aren’t proper novels. One is a graphic novel, the other is a poetry book, and then 3 are children’s books. I’m hoping to really tackle my humungous TBR over the next couple of months so fingers crossed I actually manage to get to some of the novels that have been sat on my shelf for a while.

Anyway, let’s get on with the wrap-up!

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab: I’m so glad that I’ve finally gotten around to this series. I loved the first book so I’m hoping that the second book is as good!

The Wicked King by Holly Black: Yes, I have two major YA fantasy books on the go but I just couldn’t wait to jump right into The Wicked King. I’m only on page 9, but I’m hoping to finish it in the next few days.

Brooklyn 99: This show just continues to impress me and make me happy. LONG LIVE B99!

Sex Education (Netflix): I surprisingly really enjoyed this show. I didn’t think that I would like it because I’m not too keen on sex-central things, but honestly? This was hilarious, heart-warming and just the kind of thing that I needed to watch to cheer me up. I recommend this so much.

Jane the Virgin Season 2-3 (Netflix): I’m finally catching up on this! I’m currently watching season 4 so that I can watch season 5 straight away when it comes out in March on Netflix. Season 2 and 3 have been a complete whirlwind where I’ve actually cried and actually laughed out loud. I can’t believe season 5 is that last one…

The Umbrella Academy (Netflix): A colleague at work recommended that I watch this. He said that it was brilliant and you know what? I completely agree. For those of you who are thinking ‘great… another superhero TV show.’ No, I’m going to stop you right there. This show puts the superhero element on the back burner and it’s more about the characters which is brilliant. If you’re going to watch ANYTHING, make it this.

Russian Doll (Netflix): The same colleague who recommended The Umbrella Academy, also told me that I should watch Russian Doll. I had seen the trailers and was a bit skeptical but since me and my colleague have very similar taste in films and TV shows, I thought I’d give it a go, and I ended up really enjoying it. It’s got such a deeper underlying meaning.

Ok, so February was slightly easier than December and January. For those of you who don’t know, a couple of weeks before Christmas, my mom, my sister and I found out that my Dad had been cheating on my mom for 4 months and it completely broke us. So trying to get over and learn how to forgive my Dad is a very slow process. My sole focus however, has been looking after my mom. But like I said, this month has been a little easier. We’ve had a few laughs together which was nice.

But veering away from the depressing, ARIANA’S NEW ALBUM CAME OUT and I love it so much, I’ve been listening to it on repeat. I can’t wait to go and see her in September. I’ve got a feelings that it’s going to be absolutely amazing.

I also got the chance to meet Holly Black and Cassandra Clare in Birmingham and I loved it so much. I met Vicky from What Vicky Read and also Ruby from Rubys Books Blog and even though we had to wait AAAGGGEEESSSS to queue, it was worth it! The last time I met Holly Black, I was 12 years old and she came to one of the local high schools.

I’ve also applied to do my masters at my university in creative writing. I’m currently doing a module called Writing the Novel and I’m enjoying it so much, so I thought that I would continue with my education and do my masters.IMG_7084

What have you guys been up to this month? Let me know in the comments.

Until next time…
