The three questions (Ws) are:

1.) What are you currently reading?
2.) What did you recently finish reading?
3.) What do you think you’ll read next?

So without any further ado, let’s get on with it, shall we?

Author: Jennifer A. Nielsen

Progress: 62%

Thoughts:

I’m listening to the audiobook for this. I did want the physical copy because the cover is absolutely gorgeous, but I’m trying to save money, so the audiobook seemed a good way to go.

Last week, I said that the book was captivating but it didn’t seem like it was anything special. This week, I’ve changed my tune completely. Even though I know that this book won’t be 5/5, it’s still a brilliant book and in the last 20% that I’ve read, it’s had me on the edge of my seat and I’ve been listening to it everywhere I go. I would have finished it last week as well, but I had to read a book for university, so I had to put The Traitor’s Game on hold. But since I’ve got a few days free before I need to start reading another book for uni, I can read this!

Title: The Lantern’s Ember36546857-1

Author: Colleen Houck

Progress: 202/416

Thoughts:

Yes, my progress is 5 pages less than last week and that’s because I picked the book up again but I had completely forgotten what had happened, so I had to backtrack about 40 pages… But I’m near enough where I was before so it’s all good! This is another book that I want to finish within the next week because it’s a library book and it needs to be returned in a few days! #nopressure

This is a weird one for me because when I’m reading The Lantern’s Ember, I really enjoy it, but then when I put it down, I have no motivation to pick it up and carry on reading it. It’s so strange.

The premise of the book itself is really interesting, but I feel like it comes across as more middle grade than YA fantasy, it’s not as serious, which I think lets it down for me. Here the characters are, exploring the other world and it the whole writing style/characters voice seems a bit immature? I don’t know. I’m really on the fence about this one at the moment.

Author: Walter M. Miller Jr.

Thoughts:

Ok… I FINALLY FINISHED THIS BOOK! I had to read it for my science fiction university class yesterday and I managed to finish it with seconds to spare (literally. I finished it as soon as my lecturer started the lesson!)

This book definitely gets better as it goes on – and the ending IS INSANE –  but it’s still incredibly boring. I feel like it’s one of those books that I have to read multiple times before I fully understand what it’s going on about. Going through it in class yesterday definitely helped my understanding of the novel. There IS actually a sequel to this book, but I think that it’s safe to say that I won’t be reading it any time soon.

I have no idea. The next book that I have to read for my science fiction class is The Crystal World by J.G Ballard, but I think that once I finish one of my personal reads, I’m going to be picking up Muse of Nightmares because I’m going to meet Laini Taylor on the 26th October so I need to be reading that beforehand!

It’s nice to keep you guys updated on what I’m reading, and even though I do an end-of-the-month wrap-up, you never get to see what I’m reading during the week.

Until next time…
