Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her partner-in-crime-investigation, Thomas Cresswell, are en route to New York to help solve another blood-soaked mystery. Embarking on a week-long voyage across the Atlantic on the opulent RMS Etruria, they’re delighted to discover a travelling troupe of circus performers, fortune tellers, and a certain charismatic young escape artist entertaining the first-class passengers nightly.
But then, privileged young women begin to go missing without explanation, and a series of brutal slayings shocks the entire ship. The strange and disturbing influence of the Moonlight Carnival pervades the decks as the murders grow ever more freakish, with nowhere to escape except the unforgiving sea. It’s up to Audrey Rose and Thomas to piece together the gruesome investigation as even more passengers die before reaching their destination. But with clues to the next victim pointing to someone she loves, can Audrey Rose unravel the mystery before the killer’s horrifying finale?

What absolutely sucks is that the hardcover version of Escaping from Houdini comes out in September, but because my copies of Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula are in paperback, I have to wait until October for the paperback version of Escaping from Houdini to come out. So whilst everyone is reading their copy in September, poor me will still have to wait another month. I’m actually devastated. I thought it was a good idea at the time being to order the books in paperback because they were cheaper, but now I’m looking back and regretting that decision.
That being said, I am LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS BOOK SO MUCH! I’ve pre-ordered it in both physical format AND audio format. I listened to the previous two books on audiobook (and then bought the physical copies after) and Nicola Barber does SUCH AN AMAZING job at narrating the audiobook, so when Escaping from Houdini became available on Audible to pre-order, I clicked that button straight away. This has got to be one of my favourite series of all time, and uggghhh. I just can’t wait. I need it right now.
Have you gotten to read this early? If so what are your thoughts on it? If not, are you guys interested in picking this book up? I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I AM SO EXCITED!!
