End of 2017 Book Tag
How weird is it that it’s the end of 2017 already? The last fourth months have seemed like 4 seconds just the thought of it nearly being 2018 is making me go insane. I met so many amazing authors this year such as Laini Taylor, Stephanie Garber and Matt Haig. It was such a crazy year and I hope that 2018 is the same!
Best Sequel You’ve Read in 2017
Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco… By far… This was one of those rare cases where the sequel is actually better than the first book.
Best Duology/Trilogy/Quartet/Series You’ve Read in 2016
The Monster of Verity duology by V.E Schwab or Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco. Both of the books in the Monsters of Verity duology are just AMAZING and then the first two books in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series just completely blew me away… I can’t get over how brilliant they are!
New Release You Haven’t Read, But Want To
Whichwood by Tahereh Mafi. I haven’t even read Furthermore which is the first book in this series, but Whichwood is a COMPANION novel… so maybe I can read Whichwood without reading Furthermore? I don’t know. But I do really really want to read them both.
Most Anticipated Release for 2018
Genesis by Brendan Reichs. I absolutely loved the first book: Nemesis. It was such a unique dystopian and I feel like I’ve been waiting years and years for the sequel to come out, and finally… the release date is within reach!
Biggest Disappointment
Uprooted by Naomi Novak. Just… don’t get me started. If you want to know why I was so disappointed by this, then I have a review you can read if you want to.
Biggest Surprise
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. I’m not a massive fan of historical fiction. I can read it and enjoy it to some degree, but it never leaves a massive impression. So when Gentleman’s Guide was released, loads of people were saying that it was brilliant and that I JUST HAD TO READ IT. I was weary. But I did. I listened to it on audiobook and fell in love instantly. So then I bought the physical copy and then re-read it.
Favourite New Author (Or New to You)
Kerri Maniscalco. Have I mentioned her enough yet? Her writing is just perfection. Enough said.
Newest Fictional Crush
Thomas Cresswell from Stalking Jack the Ripper. I feel like I’m repeating myself now and being boring. But seriously guys, you need to read this series because Thomas Cresswell is my precious smol bean and he is just the best person ever and I need him to be real. Thanks.
Newest Favourite Character
Audrey Rose Wadsworth from… Can you guess? It’s pretty obvious…
STALKING JACK THE RIPPER! WHOOOOOOO!
Book That Made You Cry/Upset
Letters to Eloise by Emily Williams. Wow… This book was just an emotional rollercoaster and that ending just crushed my soul.
Book That Made You Laugh/Happy
It Only Happens in the Movies by Holly Bourne. Holly Bourne writes such brilliant feminism novels and this one genuinely made me laugh out loud. The main character of Audrey is just completely done with romance (I can relate) and she’s just had enough and she relates all of the shitty romances to romance films. I thoroughly recommend this book if you’re looking for a hilarious, feminist novel.
Favourite Book To Film/TV Adaptation
Is it bad that I can’t think of an adaptation that happened in 2017? I mean… there was Wonder Woman which is a comic book adaptation… Does that count? If so… I’m going to say Wonder Woman. That was probably my favourite film of the whole of 2017.
Favourite Post You Have Done This Year
I like how I’ve been doing the Fairy Loot unboxings! They always get good viewership aswell which always makes me feel good. I love doing unboxings because it’s like I get a birthday every month due to all the surprises that I get. Fairy Loot is my favourite book subscription service because of how much care they take with their boxes and how brilliant they are with their customers.
Most Beautiful Book You Have Bought This Year
There has been so many… There’s been the illustrated editions of the Harry Potter books and Fantastic Beasts. DON’T MAKE ME CHOOSE!
What Book Do You Really Need To Read By The End Of 2017?
I would love to read Dreamfall by Amy Plum, but knowing the size of my TBR, that’s never going to happen
Any Bookish Goals for 2018?
Well, 2017 was the year that I got my act together and built the foundations for my Booktube channel. I’ve been doing it all year and have gained a following that I am so happy with. My goals were 2018 is to maintain the consistency of my Booktube channel and also…
TO READ MORE BOOKS! My Goodreads goal for 2017 was 100 books. For 2018, I’m going to increase the amount to 150… So let’s see what happens with that, shall we?
So there we go guys! My End of 2017 book tag! 2017 was an alright year personally. Not the bed, but much better than 2016. SO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, LET 2018 BE EVEN BETTER! Well guys, I hope you had an amazing Christmas and I hope you have a brilliant New Year!
I love you all so much! Thank you for reading my ranty blog posts that are just full to the brim of feels, thank you for reading all the rants about the rubbish books that I have read and thank you for reading my blog in general. Without you guys, there wouldn’t be The Bibliophile Girl.
Let’s go into 2018 with positive mindsets and with our bank accounts full so that we can spend all of our money on the brilliant releases coming out in January!
xoxo
