Yes, all of my graphic novel reviews at the moment are about Saga because it’s amazing and it’s the only graphic novel series that I’m reading at the moment because I can’t get enough of it. If you’ve read my reviews of volumes 1-3, you will know how much I ADORE this series, however volume four wasn’t up to the same standards as the previous three.

As they visit a strange new world and encounter even more adversaries, baby Hazel finally becomes a toddler, while her star-crossed parents Marko and Alana struggle to stay on their feet.

This volume collects issues 19-24

Don’t get me wrong, this volume was still brilliant and I still enjoyed every second of it, it’s just that the storyline wasn’t as strong as the other three. I think the thing that ruined me was that the family dynamic between Alana and Marcus wasn’t as strong as it was. And it made me really sad because I love those two together and I love the banter that they have with each other, but volume 4 brought tension and just raw emotions.

I do love all of the characters within this epic story and I’m excited to see what the rest of the series holds for Alana, Marko and Hazel and I really hope that Alana quits her new job because I really don’t like the kind of person that she’s becoming because of it. I preferred her so much more in the previous three because she knew what her priorities were in life, but she seems to have lost sight of all that. I know that she’s trying to provide for her family, but you can’t just ditch them completely.

Yet again, the artwork within this volume was sensational and I love all of the colours that Fiona Staples uses to convey the weird and wonderful worlds within this sci-fi/fantasy series.

Overall, this wasn’t my favourite volume yet, but it still promises a very strong storyline to come and I can’t wait to see what happens to our beloved characters.
