Reading Habits Book Tag
Every reader has their habits… That one spot that makes reading a more enjoyable experience, that specific food or drinks that they crave whilst delving into a new world or that little, unique quirk that adds a more individual sense of style to their reading habits. Well, I’m here to share my reading habits with you!
Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Ummmm, the place that I read the most would be on the sofa in my living room but I have my particular spot on the sofa where I have to be sitting to read. If someone else is sitting in that spot, then I go upstairs and read in bed. I know… I’m stubborn.
Bookmark or random piece of paper?
I don’t really use a bookmark; I normally use Goodreads to track where I am in a book. If I’m putting my book down for a short amount of time, then I normally use a random piece of paper or the nearest thing to me. I’ve used my phone as a bookmark, a cinema ticket, some deodorant. Anything…
Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?
I definitely have to finish the chapter before I put the book down. If I don’t finish the chapter, then I tend to lose the gist of what’s happening and then have to re-read that chapter. THIS IS WHY SHORT CHAPTERS ARE THE BEST!
Do you eat or drink whilst reading?
Not really… Sometimes I’ll have a cup of tea whilst I’m reading but I’ll always have to keep the cup away from the book because I’m always scared that my tea is going to spill over my book and that would be my worst nightmare!
Multitasking: Music or TV whilst reading?
Neither! I have trouble concentrating as it is and if there’s music playing or the TV is on in the background then it’s off I go! Just ask my parents. I’ll be reading, they’ll turn the TV on and I abruptly get up and go to my room because the TV will just put me off instantly. #problems
One book at a time or several?
Definitely, one book at a time unless I’m doing reading for university. If that’s the case, then I’ll be reading a personal book alongside by university reading. Unless the university reading is really challenging… Then I’ll just concentrate on that and leave my massive TBR pile alone…
Reading at home or everywhere?
EVERYWHERE! How am I supposed to get any reading done if I just do it at home? Catching the train to university is very handy because it means that I get half an hour of uninterrupted reading time and it’s heaven.
Read out loud or silently in your head?
In my head. 100%
Do you read ahead or skip pages?
I don’t skip pages but sometimes, the book will be so exciting and tense that I skim read and end up reading so fast that I skip a few sentences. I then have to calm myself down and re-read the sentences that I’ve missed…
Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
KEEPING IT IN PRISTINE CONDITION! If my book ends up having a slight crease, I cry. If my book ends up getting a mark on it, I cry. If my books pages get slightly bent then … Well, you get the idea. This also means that if someone asks to borrow my books – even if it’s my parents asking – it’s a straight up ‘no’. I do not lend my books to anyone. Sorry guys, I just don’t trust you.
Do you write in your books?
Nope. No. No. No. If there’s a quote that I like, I take a picture of it. The only time that I underline or write in books is if it’s my university books. I’m currently writing an essay for uni, and whilst reading the books, I’m highlighting quotes that I could use when I’m answering my essay question. BUT THAT’S THE ONLY TIME I EVER DO THAT!
So there we have it guys! Those are a few of my reading habits! I think I’m addicted to these book tags you know… I just find them really enjoyable to do and I love sharing a bit more about myself with you guys – even if it is just little things like the ones above.
I tag anyone who wants to do this tag as I don’t like specifying people that I think should do the tag. I love reading everyone’s and seeing what their different quirks are!
xoxo
