But I’m a book blogger, so obviously I’m here to tell you what we book bloggers actually do…

1) This is the main one – we try and read at every spare moment. Because what’s a book blogger who doesn’t actually read books. Sometimes, life gets in the way and we might not read for a few days, a week or even a month, but we really do try and stay on top of that ginormous TBR pile.

2) Because of that ginormous TBR, this means that when we are reading loads, we don’t really sleep. We are obviously magical creatures who can last long periods of time without sleeping and this is what makes us the best creatures of the realm. And when we do snatch moments of sleep, they are moments of sleep full of incredibly hurtful feels…

3) We buy books. Sometimes we get sent ARCs (advanced reader copy), sometimes we go to the library. But me personally, I love owning the books and knowing that they are mine forever *insert wicked cackling here* so because of this horrible personality trait, this leads me to point number four…

4) We’re poor… Oh so poor. Take a look at our bank accounts and cry along with us. Take a look at our bank statements and all they will say is we spend a fortune in every bookshop we walk past *Waterstones, I’m blaming you*. Do you know how strong I’ve had to be with my student finance money? My Mom had to literally drag me away from the book section of WH Smith to stop me from buying anything.

5) Writing the reviews. It’s so hard to write a negative review just because I don’t want the author to stumble upon it and feel awful. I don’t want to make authors feel bad about their writing – that is not my intention. If it was up to me, I would rate every book a five and be on my merry way, but unfortunately, that wouldn’t be helpful to you lovely readers at all and would be completely false advertising. So writing the actual reviews are very very hard on our souls…

6) Since we are buying a ton of books all of the time, we therefore have no room on our threatening-to-collapse-at-any-moment bookshelves. I genuinely had to rearrange my room so that I could fit an extra bookshelf in because I had run out of space on my other ones. When I move out of my parents’ house, I will buy my own house and every room will be a library and when I run out of space then, I will curl up into a ball in one of the corners and cry.

7) Designing the blog itself is a huge pain. WE DON’T WANT TO DESIGN WEBSITES OK? WE JUST WANT TO READ. AND WRITE ABOUT OUR READING! That’s all we want to do! Do you know how long it took me to figure out HTML codes and make my drop down menu look ok? And even then… it doesn’t really work properly and I have no idea how to fix it… Sorry guys…

8) We participate in social media every so often when we are not reading or writing. Like I said before, we are magical creatures that live in our own realm and social networking is something that we feel like we just have to do… *I’m joking. Not about being magical. But about having to do social media* Some of us take part in blogger chats, some of us have the most awesome Bookstagrams… Seriously, though… My Bookstagram is terrible, don’t even bother going on there because, for some reason, I wasn’t made to take beautiful photos of my beautiful books. I am so jealous of all of you amazing people who can.

9) We fangirl over other book blogs at unreasonable times in the morning because we love our special community so much and really want our fellow book lovers’ blogs to thrive. (That’s probably why – if you follow me on Twitter – you will see me wanting to do blog hops all of the time).

10) Finally, some of us introverted book bloggers are trying to write our own books at the same time. I am. And I find it incredibly difficult to keep on top of my reading, my blog and writing my book. I also find it hard to actually write my book after I have just finished reading someone else’s. If I have just finished reading a fantasy, my own book will have a fantasy vibe to it. If I have just finished reading a thriller, my own book will have thriller elements to it, and so on… SO THEN, I have to go back and make sure it’s all the same genre… Oops…
