10 Netflix Originals You NEED to Watch
If you’ve read my review on Netflix’s sci-fi thriller: Stranger Things, you’ll know how much I love it. I was browsing through Netflix a while back, contemplating what to fill my night with and I realised how many Netflix original shows there were and then I also realised how many I’ve seen and how awesome they are. So I decided to compile a list of the top 10 Netflix originals that you’re missing out on. Seriously, if you watch these, they will fill that void in your life.
Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror is a show featuring stand-alone episode dramas that are suspenseful, satirical stories that explore techno-paranoia. Black Mirror is a modern day ‘The Twilight Zone’ with plots that explore the unease about the modern world.
After a failed relationship with fellow superhero Jessica Jones, Cage attempts to build himself a quiet life in Harlem, New York until he is forced out of the shadows and pulled into a battle that he didn’t ask for – a battle for his city and a battle to avoid confronting his past which he has worked hard to bury. Luke Cage is an action-packed drama which follows the eponymous character, a man with super strength and unbreakable skin which was caused by a sabotaged experiment.
Eight strangers from all around the globe find themselves mentally connected which is triggered by a violent vision and then by their shared ability to connect with one an others thought and actions. The first season of this brilliant show follows the eight characters in their journey to find out what happened to them and why. During their journey, an organisation is hunting them down, intent on completely destroying them.
This film follows the actions of a young boy who becomes a child soldier whilst his country is going through a horrific war. This American war drama conveys the true horror of war and what can happen when your country is overrun by the enemy who are intent on killing you and all of the people that you love.
Narcos follows the true story of the rise and the fall of the Colombian drug king, Pablo Escobar and the DEA who are hell bent on catching him once and for all. Narcos shows the world that Escobar built for himself, it shows the horrific crimes that he committed and it’s a brilliant binge-worthy show.
Jessica Jones is one bad-ass female lead. When a tragedy puts an end to her shot-lived career as as superhero, Jones settles in New York and opens her own private detective company. Whilst working, she comes across a fellow superhero who uses their powers for much darker intentions. And it’s up to Jessica Jones to stop them.
I promise this is the last superhero show on my list! Daredevil follows Matt Murdock who is an attorney by day and a vigilante at night. Blinded in an accident as a child, Murdcock uses his heightened sense to fight New York’s criminals. But he gets involved in a criminal ring that is too big and he finds himself fighting to the death to make sure his Hell’s Kitchen is safe from the people who want to destroy it.
Deciding the top three Netflix originals was so hard for me but after half an hour of deliberation, I managed to decide. Stranger Things comes in at number three. Stranger Things follows the journey of three boys who are searching for their lost friend. Along the way, they unravel a series of mysterious that involve secret government experiments that include supernatural forces and a unusual girl that they don’t know if they can trust.
Orphan Black is one of the best television shows that I have ever seen. And that’s saying something because I watch a lot (and I mean a lot) of television. Orphan Black follows Sarah Manning who is an English orphan with a troubled past. Uprooted from England and taken to America with her foster brother, Felix, Sarah can’t seem to stay away from trouble. After witnessing a woman commit suicide, Sarah realises that the woman looked exactly like her. After stealing the woman’s identity, Sarah finds herself in deep water when she is confronted with mystery, secrets and something that she never thought was possible.
Yes! You guessed it!
What would a top Netflix originals list be without Orange is the New Black?
If you haven’t seen it yet, where have you been?
Piper Chapman’s past catches up with her when she is sentence to spend time in a women’s prison with her association with a drug runner ten years ago. Chapman makes her way through the prison and adjusts to life behind bars, making friends and enemies with eccentric and unusual people.
So there we have it guys, there is my top ten Netflix Originals that you just have to watch. They are all television shows apart from Beasts of No Nation so happy binge watching! Of course, there are also many many more Netflix originals that are amazing but it was so hard to narrow it down to the top ten!
