End of 2019 | Book Tag
2019 was a bit of a shit year, to be honest. You can read all about the shitty times here. But there were a few good things that happened as well.
- I went to New York with my best friend
- I went to YALC
- I finished my degree
- Started my Masters
However, it really hasn’t been a good year for reading or blogging, and I’m quite disappointed in myself for how little I’ve read. But, I’m blaming that on how much I’ve been struggling this year with my mental health.
Anyway, let’s get on with the post.
Best Book You’ve Read in 2019
Yes, I’m a bit late to the game for reading A Darker Shade of Magic, but I finally have and OH MY LIFE, I LOVED IT SO MUCH!! As for Internment, this was such a powerful read that I actually read at the beginning of the year, but it has stuck with me throughout 2019 and I’ve urged everyone to read it as well.
Best Sequel You’ve Read in 2019
Obviously.
Best Duology/Trilogy/Quartet/Series You’ve Read in 2019
I should basically just make this tag a A Darker Shade of Magic appreciation post.
New Release You Haven’t Read, But Want To
Look. Okay. I haven’t even read The Wicked King yet. Don’t @ me. I’ve been busy and depressed this year, alright?
Most Anticipated Release for 2020
Biggest Disappointment
I absolutely loved S.T.A.G.S by M.A. Bennett, so I was so excited to pick up The Island, but it just fell flat for me. It was just… meh.
Biggest Surprise
I’m not normally one for historical books, and the story of Merlin and King Arthur has never appealed to me. BUT, the cover was so amazing and the fact that it was a female-centred version from Guinevere’s point of view made it interesting for me. Turns out, I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait for the second one.
Favourite New Author (Or New to You)
Samira Ahmed’s writing style is amazing and the way that she tells poignant stories is so important.
Newest Fictional Crush
I haven’t finished Furyborn yet, but Simon is an amazing character and I’m in love. Also… Mordred from The Guinevere Deception. Yes, please.
Newest Favourite Character
Mordred or Lancelot from The Guinevere Deception.
Book That Made You Cry/Upset
Enough said.
Book That Made You Laugh/Happy
This series will always make me laugh. I love the way that the story is told with the footnotes from the characters, and just the way each and every character has their own hilarious voice makes my day.
Favourite Book To Film/TV Adaptation
I haven’t actually seen one this year…
Favourite Post You Have Done This Year
2019 has been a dry year for blogging. I’ve hardly done it, and when I have, it’s been quick and easy posts. So… I don’t have one.
Most Beautiful Book You Have Bought This Year
I’ve bought so many gorgeous books this year. Way too many to put pictures of; publishers seem to be really stepping up their game when it comes to attracting the reader. An example of gorgeous books that I got this year were the Barnes and Noble exclusive editions of The Cruel Prince trilogy. I love them so much.
What Book Do You Really Need To Read By The End Of 2020?
Well, considering that I finished writing this post on the 31st December, I think it may be too late to set any goals…
Any Bookish Goals for 2020?
- BLOG MORE! I hardly did anything in 2019
- READ MORE! I only read 33 books in 2019, which is mega slow for me
So, there we have it guys! It’s the end of another year here at The Bibliophile Girl. It has been a rollercoaster of a year. So many good things have happened, and so much shit stuff has happened.
If it wasn’t for you guys keep coming back to read my posts, then I would have just given up, so thank you so much. I love you all.
