The Ultimate Book Tag

The Ultimate Book Tag

Welcome to THE ULTIMATE BOOK TAG, where there are so many questions about bookish things, that are quick to answer and some are very thought-provoking, and then some I didn’t understand, so I had to just wing it. I honestly don’t know where I got the idea for this. I saw it on someone else’s blog about a year ago, and I forgot to take note of who’s blog it was so THIS IS NOT MY IDEA. This was someone else’s, but I don’t know whose. So if you know, let me know in the comments so that I can tag the original blog.

Anyway, let’s get into the book tag!

Do You Get Sick While Reading In The Car?

Yes! And it’s an absolute nightmare. BUT! This is why audiobooks are the best thing ever because it means that I can still read whilst I’m in the car.

Which Author’s Writing Style Is Completely Unique To You And Why?

I love the way that Sylvain Neuvel wrote The Themis Files. The story is told through interviews and case reports and I thought it was such an interesting way to tell a story.

Harry Potter or Twilight? Give 3 Reasons Why.

Harry Potter because:

  • Dobby
  • It was the first ‘proper’ series that my parents read to me before bed as a child
  • Hermione

Do You Carry A Book Bag? If So, What’s In It (Besides Books)?

What’s a book bag? I’m confused…

I mean, in my normal every day bag, I have a book sleeve with my current read, my phone and earphones, my purse, paracetamol, hand cream, lip balm, hairbrush, pen, notebook, a drink (an absolute must-have. I get thirty very quickly), and my bullet journal.

Do You Smell Your Books?

Of course, I do.

Books With or Without Illustrations?

It depends on the book. I mean, of course, I love the Harry Potter illustrated editions, and the illustrated edition of How to Stop Time,  but I don’t know if I have an actual preference. However, I DO look for whether the book has interesting chapter illustrations, so there is that, I guess.

What Book Did You Love While Reading, But Discovered Later It Wasn’t Quality Writing?

Twilight series. I read it when I was 13/14 and I thought it was the best thing that I had ever read. It was the series that got me into reading young adult, but looking back, I realised that it was a pretty terrible storyline and the writing was shocking.

Do You Have Any Funny Stories Involving Books From Your Childhood?

It’s not funny, but my parents yelled at me so much when they could see the light was still on in my room WAAAAAAAYYY past my bedtime because I was reading.

And this isn’t funny either, but it’s a memorable bookish story:

I was reading Eragon and I had just turned 7 years old. There’s a bit in Eragon where the main character walks into a town and sees a mountain of bodies being burned, and in that mountain, there are also bodies of babies. My baby sister had just been born, about 4 weeks earlier, and reading about dead babies just set me off completely and I started crying because I kept imagining my sister on the mountain. My dad came rushing into my room, gave me a massive hug and told me not to read any more of the book. I haven’t read another word of Eragon since.

What Is The Thinnest Book On Your Shelf?

I think it’s either Oleanna by David Mamet (a play I had to read for university), or The Castles of Athlin and Dunbayne by Anne Radcliffe (a book that I also had to read for university).

What Is the Thickest Book On Your Shelf?

I have so many thick books! But it has to be my illustrated edition of all of The Lord of the Rings books. It’s something like 1500 pages, maybe more.

Do You Write As Well As Read? Do You See Yourself Being An Author In the Future?

Yes, I write as well. I’ve got a couple of ongoing projects, but I’m in a massive writing slump at the moment when it comes to both of them, so I’m thinking of leaving them for a bit and trying out another idea. So yes, I do see myself as an author as well as a film journalist and a publisher in an ideal, utopian world.

When Did You Get Into Reading?

When I came out of the womb. No joke. I think I was born with a book in my hand. I blame my Dad.

What Is Your Favorite Classic Book?

To Kill a Mockingbird.

What Was Your Best Subject In School?

English. I loved it, absolutely loved it and I had such an amazing teacher who helped me through everything and supported me in all my ideas.

If You Were Given A Book As A Present That You Read Before And Hated, What Would You Do?

Well, if someone bought a book that I had already read, it means that they’re not immediate family or my best friend. Because every year, for my birthday and Christmas, I give my Amazon wish list to my parents and close relatives. So, if someone bought me a book without consulting my parents as to whether it was the right decision, then they don’t really know me. So I would probably sell it on, or give it to a charity shop.

What Is A Lesser Known Series That You Know Of That Is Similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?

Honestly, I don’t. I mean, there’s Nemesis by Brendan Reichs which is similar to Hunger Games, but it’s not a lesser known series, I don’t think.

What Is A Bad Habit You Always Do (Besides Rambling) While Filming?

Look out my window. I get nervous just looking into the camera, so I tend to look out my window a lot which is very annoying when I’m editing but oh well… I get some of my best inspiration for videos and things to say when looking out my window.

What Is Your Favorite Word?

I don’t have a favourite word… Does that make me boring? Or strange?

Are You A Nerd, Dork, or Dweeb?

What’s the difference? Nerd is when you’re really clever, right? Dork is, I have no clue, and what’s a dweeb? Is that some sort of American term for a loser?

10 minutes later after consulting the Urban Dictionary:

The urban dictionary states that a dork is: Someone who has odd interests and is often silly at times. A dork is also someone who can be themselves and not care what anyone thinks. The Oxford dictionary says that it’s a socially inept person, which sounds exactly like me, but then says that dork was used as vulgar slang for a dick. Which is lovely.

Collins dictionary says that a dweeb is a boring and stupid person who is dull and awkward. (That’s actually very very mean)

I mean, I guess I’m a dork? But if I’m being completely honest, I’m a geek.

Vampires of Fairies? Why?

Fairies. They’re just so much cooler.

926601do9y3g7tff.gif

Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

This question just immediately makes me think about The Mortal Instruments. But I’m going to have to go with Shapeshifters because I just think that’s an awesome power to have.

926601do9y3g7tff.gif

Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

I don’t know when it comes to this. I guess spirits? They’re in the land of the fairies and I’m bored of hearing about werewolves.

926601do9y3g7tff.gif

Zombies or Vampires? Why?

I don’t really like either, but I’m going to go with vampires. Zombies are just not for me. At all.

926601do9y3g7tff.gif

Love Triangles or Forbidden Love?

Forbidden love. I do like a good love triangle story IF IT’S DONE GOOD, but otherwise, they just get a bit tiresome.

926601do9y3g7tff.gif

Full on Romance Books Or Action-Packed With A Few Love Scenes?

Action packed with a few love scenes. If it’s full-on romance, I feel sick. Too many feelings and I can’t deal with that.

926601do9y3g7tff.gif

So there we have it! That was the ultimate book tag! I just tag anyone who wants to do it, as it’s a fun tag to do and it gives my blog a little bit of a break from hauls, wrap-ups and reviews!

Until next time!
